Expect 6-9 months: Like most ligament reconstructions about the knee, an lcl (lateral collateral ligament) reconstruction requires months of formal rehabilitation. Running is not routinely allowed until after 3-4 months. A stepwise progression thereafter allows you to get back to maximal functional recovery between 6 to 9 months.
