Several approaches.: Surgery for vesicoureteral reflux is usually performed by pediatric urologists to prevent progressive kidney damage from infections. There are several approaches, and you should approach the surgeon for specifics. In general, an incision is made low on the abdomen to expose the bladder. The ureters are disconnected, tapered, then reconnected to the bladder at different locations.

Reflux: This operation involves detaching and re-implanting the ureter(s) into the bladder at an angle, and with sufficient tunneling through the wall, to Prohibit future reflux of urine from the bladder back up the ureters.
