Good sleep hygiene: Start a routine of establishing a sleep pattern. Go to bed at the same time every night. Avoid alcohol, caffeine, nicotine, excess food and exercise prior to bedtime. Darken the room, try earplugs. If you wake up fatigued, consider a sleep study as you may have sleep apnea.

7-8 hours sleep: If you wake up tired, and are dragging and drowsy during the day, you may have sleep apnea. You need to see your doctor and perhaps have a sleep study. Today in many cases an oral appliance can be used instead of the CPAP machine. A dentist trained in dental sleep medicine can help you if you do have sleep apnea. Do not take sleeping pills.
