One week: Gallbladder surgery is usually done as an outpatient procedure meaning you go home a couple hours after the surgery. It's most commonly done laparoscopically with small incisions and a camera with one incision in the belly button and up to three additional small 5mm incisions. Most people take a week off work then feel up to going back to work with no heavy lifting for 4 weeks.

Depends: With a laparoscopic approach, many surgeons will do the procedure as an outpatient or just an overnight stay. In complicated cases or an open procedure, that changes according to the situation. After a straightforward case, i usually tell people to take 3-4 days off and no strenuous activity for 2 weeks.
