It happens, but...: This is not the most common response. So many variables affect one's 1st response, including concomitant conditions, type of med(s), dose, situational factors, etc. Often, one feels "better" or more competent or more in control, at least after a short time on a successfully titrated dose of the right med(s). But i like patients to "feel" not much of anything from rx- just do better as time goes on.

Can be: Some adhd meds can be euphorigenic, increasing mood to an effusive level. This passes after a few days. It is an unintended effect that shouldn't be looked for later. Many pts complain to me that they "never feel like the first time anymore." euphoria is why these drugs are abused. Don't look for it. Look for improvement in your core adhd symptoms.

Yes: Stimulants such as Ritalin, Concerta, Addrall and Vyvanse (lisdexamfetamine) increase brain Dopamine and Nor Epinephrine levels. Dopamine has pressurizing properties and can make you feel happy. Noe epinephrine is stimulating and can make you feel like having increased energy
