Can a hiatal hernia be seen with the laprascopic methods used during gall bladder removal?

Only if Ur Looking: A hiatal hernia can be easily visualized when doing laparoscopic surgery; however, it takes some effort to look at this region and we do not routinely make that effort at the time of gallbladder surgery unless there is a good reason to check. This often requires people to be in a slightly different position and necessitates retracting the liver.

Not Necessarily: Only if the left lobe of the liver is held up out of the way. This is rarely done during routine gall bladder surgery.
