A member asked:

2 yr old refuses to poop. recently potty trained, won't poop in potty, his pants, nothing. holds it so long it hurts when he does go. what do i do?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Toilet training: Oops, your toddler appears stressed-out! the best thing to do is to leave him alone at this point - no negative comments, reprimands despite pant soiling, coercion, urgings nor discussions about his pooping. Shower him with praises, reassurances and positive reinforcements and/or give rewards if/when he defecates in the toilet. Continue to provide increased fiber and fluid intake. Live like usual.
