Tetanus: Make sure your son is up-to-date with his tetanus vaccination with your family doctor or pediatrician's office. Otherwise, continue to monitor the wound to make sure it does not get infected.

PUNCTURED WOUND: Your son must be up to date with his shots. Cleaning the area, applying betadine and your triple antibiotic must be enough. If it gets infected, see md.

See your doctor: Puncture wounds are particularly prone to infection. Depending on the depth of the wound it may be best to have your son on an oral antibiotic. Topical antibiotics will not help deep wound infections. Also an x-ray needs to be performed to be sure there is no foreign body (fragment of turtle bone) in the wound.
