Depends: Can be as simple as antibiotics to as radical as surgery, and in some instances, even amputation. Really depends on how bad the infection is, where it is, and how long its been there.

Antibiotics/Surgery: Osteomyelitis is an infection of the bone, usually caused by bacteria. Typically, the infected and/or dead bone needs to be surgically removed. Once the bone has been cultured and the type of bacteria identifed, appropriate antibiotic therapy is started. Some infections require long term IV antibiotics (6 or more weeks).
