Depends on dose: Under 3 grams a day is generally safe. The american heart association recommends that if you take more than 3 grams a day of omega-3 fatty acids, you should do so under a doctor's care. High intake of fish oil supplements can cause bleeding in some people.

Not likely.: Fish oil is not one of those things doctors regularly recommend to induce labor. It likely has no down sides, but probably isn't effective. Sexual intercourse, however, can be a natural way to induce labor.

Dr. Francine Yep
Family Medicine 31 years experience
Yes: Fish oil can thin your blood. You shouldn't take if if you have bleeding in your stomach or brain. It's a good idea to stop it 14 days before dental or regular surgery. Be careful if you are taking other drugs which can thin your blood [such as aspirin, nsaids, warfarin, antiplatelet agents like plavix].

Purified omega is less of a problem. Consider stopping 7 days before major surgeries. Check with your provider.

A 35-year-old member asked:

How long do the effects of 1mg of lorazepam persist for?

1 doctor answer1 doctor weighed in
Dr. Douglas Laipple
Psychiatry 44 years experience
It's variable.: The sedative, calming, and mental slowing can be expected to last 5-6 hours, although the medication can still be detected in your blood and urine for about twice that time. Persons can, and do, lose their driver licenses if they drive under the influence of benzodiazepines, and doctors who prescribe Clonazepam (lasts 8-9 hours), etc., are remiss if they don't warn patients not to drive.
