Why is it dangerous to have low blood sugar?

Cells need sugar: Cells need certain amount of sugar available to properly function. When sugar is low, cells don't function as intended. If its low enough, things start dying. This is an oversimplification, but hypoglycemia is dangerous.

Body functions: Your brain and heart muscle use glucose directly from the blood as their energy source. They have no backup source. If it gets too low you go into a coma (brain doesn't work) and may suffer a seizure. Your heart may also begin to have irregularities in it's beat and malfunction.
