None or itching: Many people with pinworms show no symptoms. If they do, the most common symptom is itching around the anal area, especially at night. In more severe cases, there can be nausea, vomiting, and belly pain.

Itching: We suspect pinworms when patients complain or, or are noticed, scratching their rectum. The pinworms are tiny white worms (about the size of a newsprint comma), that live in the rectum. Adult females leave the rectum and lay eggs on the skin outside the rectum. Look at the rectum, early in morning, and you may see the tiny, threadlike worms, or do a 'tape test' and have the lab look for the eggs.
