Should i really be seeing a child psychiatrist at 19?

Dr. William Holmes answered

Specializes in Child Psychiatry

Depends: Child psychiatrists receive full training in adult psychiatiry, so seeing a child psychiatrist at age 19 would not be unusual. Also, if you have already been seeing this psychiatrist as an adolescent then you maintain continuity of care by continuing with him/her. Depending on your future plans for treatment, i could see the possibility of changing - you will want to discuss with current doc.
