Stop using diapers!: Diaper rash is not caused by urine or by stool, it is caused by diapers. Changing frequently and changing brands can help. In severe cases, put the baby on absorbent sheets and don't use a diaper at all until the rash is gone. It is messy, but it works. If the rash is already severe, you will need help from your babies doctor.

Replace them: For diaper rash keep baby's skin clean & dry. Change diaper as soon as it's soiled or wet. For healing allow baby to go without diaper for periods of time so affected area can air out. Avoid tight diapers or airtight covers over diaper. Meds your Dr. might recommend include antifungal cream (for fungus), a steroid cream (for significant inflammation) or an antibiotic (for bacterial infection.)
