Different: Floor, even if wooden, if land just right (or "wrong, " depending on perspective) can cause musculoskeletal injuries. Beach will get sand into eyes (& everywhere else), but is less likely to have any long term consequences. Try to limit diving saves when indoors & good for you for being active!

In competitive : Volleyball , you may be required to try to save every ball that comes your way. This is why it is imperative that you wear good quality knee pads. Abrading skin off knees is very common in both sand ; standard volleyball. It is also very important to learn ; to practice good technique.
