No : Asbestos exposure is typically associated with the development of fibrosis (scarring) of the lung, lung cancer, mesothelioma, and pleural disease (disease of the lining of the lung). Although asbestos exposure has not been directly linked to the development of emphysema or copd, it may be one of the factors that contributes to the development of the condition, especially in those who smoke.
