Several causes: Mechanical symptoms in the shoulder arise most commonly from thickening of the subacromial bursa, a thin membrane of tissue between the rotator cuff and the overlying bone. Another cause includes possible tears of the glenoid labrum. Roughness of the glenohumeral joint (arthritis) may also cause finding and popping in the shoulder.
