Get it checked out: I don't know what kind of care you may have been given if any, but if pain and swelling have not improved, you need to have this checked asap. It might be more tan just a simple sprain.

Get checked: If it has been a month, make an appointment with your pcp or podiatrist. You may have a more serious ankle problem.

Aggressive treatment: Unfortunately sprains can sometimes take longer to heal than broken bones. Make sure you had x-rays to rule-out a fracture. Next, treat it aggressively with ice, compression, elevation and immobilization (either with an ankle brace, splint or boot). If you are not doing any portion of the above, i would start. A bad ankle sprain should be treated by a podiatrist or orthopedic surgeon.
