Possibly if mild: If you really have pid you need close follow-up as you may need additional or IV antibiotics, you need cultures and an ultrasound, and i assume you are under the care of a gyn , because if you just went to the er and were treated you need to followup with a gyn.

Not always: Doxycycline is only used to treat pid in conjunction with another antibiotic and not by itself. Pid is a condition that is both underdiagnosed and overdiagnosed. Most women will respond to combination antibiotic therapy that has been publlished by cdc. However, make sure you see your doctor in follow up.
