Exam, maybe biopsy: First, you need to see a healthcare provider. He or she will ask you how long the lump has been there, if it's sore, and what other symptoms you have. An exam will show if the lump if fluid-filled, rubbery, hard, and where it is compared to glands in your neck. If that doesn't provide an answer, the provider may order more tests which might include a biopsy.
