Possible: A more common problem would be something called sinus tarsitis, which is a pinched nerve at the outer front area of the ankle. Dependant upon your foot position or movement this would cause sharp pain. Other things to consider in addition to tendonits are tarsal tunnel syndrome or a small talar dome injury. See your podiatrist if these symptoms continue.
