Blood Clots and risk: Hello: blood clots are not pleasant things. But, most of them are not life threatening. There is a frequent and common blood clot syndrome called deep vein thrombosis. This occurs in the deep veins of the lower extremity and causes swelling and pain in that lower leg and especially in the calf. Blood clots in the foot are not benign but if they do not extend then there is less reason to worry.
