Purple blotches: Purple blotches on the skin arise from capillaries (small blood vessels) in the skin. They may be more noticeable under certain conditions (temp, exercise, alcohol). Depending on the type/degree of involvement lasers may be helpful in reducing their appearance. If they are associated with other symptoms or change in their appearance, it would be advisable to have an exam. Hope this helps!

Dr Pollard: provided excellent info. I don't know the reason without seeing the lestions. These lesions need to be visualized & a history needs to be obtained in order to make an accurate diagnosis. Sometimes lab testing or biopsy is necessary.
