Sunscreen Moisturize: The first way to soothe sensitive skin is to avoid hot water and detergent based facial soaps. Wash your face with a soap-free facial cleanser (cetaphil, dove for sensitive skin) and lukewarm water. Every morning, apply a facial moisturizer that contains a broad spectrum sunscreen containing zinc oxide (elta md facial, skinceuticals).

Depends on the cause: Aloe vera is cool and soothing, but the best way to treat your skin depends on what caused the irritation in the first place.
