Skilled Facilities: A skilled nursing facility usually has two separate operations: post-hospital rehabilitation and long-term care. In ltc, this is a the permanent home for these residents. They are unable to care for themselves at home and require a higher level of needs for care than can be delivered in any other setting. Snfs are highly regulated so they deliver a slew of benefits including meals, activities, etc.

Independence: Although obviously advantageous for those who are unable to take care of themselves and lack proximity to their children, risk of acquiring infections and developing depression are some of the disadvantages.
