How does a person get tourrettes syndrome?

All is not known yet: Family studies show that TS is a disorder with complex inheritance, as several different gene mutations have been shown to have a significant effect in different families, related to the tics, OCD & even ADHD associated with their TS. At-risk males are more likely to have tics; at-risk females, OCD symptoms. Environmental factors that trigger gene expression in at-risk persons are not yet known.
