Cold sores: There are several possible causes of your symptoms, but herpes would be my first assumption until i heard more and examined you. We can now de-stigmatize herpes and understand this infection to a much better degree given the tremendous research that has changed everything we know about herpes in the past few years. Other rare issues could be allergies, vitamin c deficiency and a fungal infection.
