A member asked:

Are the antibiotics used to treat group b strep given orally or through iv?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends on the situa: If i suspect a newborn has gbs , a life threatening condition, i will give it iv.If mom is gbs + during labor, she will get meds iv. They used to give some oral meds years ago to try to get rid of it in gbs+moms but found the practice unreliable & ineffective.
