Different concepts: Generalized anxiety disorder (gad) is a symptom-defined category in the diagnostic and statistical manual that all mental health professionals use. It describes people who are very anxious, worry a lot, are tense, irritable, easily fatigued, have trouble concentrating, etc. "neurosis" is a psychodynamic concept -- disorder marked by inner conflict, anxiety, & unconscious defenses against this.

Somewhat alike: Neurosis is an older term which describes a broad spectrum of problems due to maladaptive defenses, poor coping and overwhelming demands. Generalized anxiety disorder is a newer term (dsm) and may be a type of neurosis.
