What is the mechanism by which kidneys affect blood pressure?

They help regulate: The kidneys help regulate the bodies BP by the angiotensin /renin system. They can cause an increse in aldosterone levels which causes an increase in sodium and water absorption and increase the bp.If there are blocked renal arteries this too can cause high blood pressure.
