Depend on age & caus: Kyphosis rarely is seen at birth & when present requires surgery. In adolescents it is called scheuermann's disease, a wedging together of several vertebrae. This can be treated by bracing & exercises. Rarely is surgery necessary except for 60• or greater. In adults if it from osteoporosis no treatment may necessary. If painful vertebroplasty is excellent. But you see your pcp for a diagnosis!

Varies: This depends on what part of the spine it is occuring . It is also dependent on the cause and your age. If in the thoracic or chest region, it is usually just an appearance issue but if of sufficient size or magnitude, it can cause muscular symptoms. You should have it evaluated to see if there is any need for treatment which for most is just exercise.
