Many causes: Agree with Dr, N that infection is a common cause of elevated WBC and diabetics are more prone to infections. However, diabetes does not preclude other illnesses like leukemia. All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests.
