Weight loss surgery: There are several procedures available. Each one has its benefits and complications. While the type of surgery is important, you should also look at the support provided by the 'program' both before and after the procedure, including support by a nutritionist and or dietician.

4 types bariatric: 1. Band. A restrictive device. 70% success. 50% excess wt loss. 2. Sleeve. Cuts off outer stomach. 95% success. 70% excess wt loss. 3. Bypass. Small pouch to small bowel. 95% success. 80% excess wt loss. The last procedure is duodenal switch. Mostly malabsorptive. Rarely done. Higher risk. Not widely supported.
