No: A vagotomy is not a part of any weight loss surgical procedure.

Not appropriate: We generally avoid vagotomy in order to keep the low stomach working normally. Some studies were attempted with vagotomy plus a band, but were not successful. There is a stimulator for the vagus nerve that has been placed in the neck area and has shown a decrease in appetite. Still under investigation.
