Distress laughter: Your system may be discharging or releasing intense emotion through the laughter. Kind of like a pressure valve when things build up too much. There's also a disorder called "pseudobulbar affect, " where people have involuntary or uncontrollable episodes of crying and/or laughing, or other emotional displays. It can come from brain injury or other neurologic problem.
