Is it normal for wisdom teeth to get impacted and not need to be removed?

Sometimes: Impacted wisdom teeth have no chance of erupting in a normal fashion. Removal is done to prevent future problems. Depending upon their actual position, removal could permanently jeopardize large nerves or sinus health in which case, it would be better not to remove the impacted teeth.
