If my mother had schizophrenia, what is my liklihood of it?

10%: Schizophrenia is a brain disease which affects 1% of the population and can be hereditary. According to excellent studies on twins, a person has about a 10% chance of having schizophrenia if one parent has it. The odds can go as high as 50% if both parents have schizophrenia. Also, it is possible to have schizophrenia in the absence of any family history for the disease.

Only 5%!: Schizophrenia in the general population only occurs in 1% of the population, so even though your risk is higher it is still very small!
