Vegan diet: The closer you can get to a vegan diet with fish the better; exercise and weight loss help.

Cholesterol has never been the correct the issue; promoted because it is a fat manufactured by all animal cells, was cheaper to measure & correlates with LDL particle concentrations iF extremely high. Get NMR measured LDL & HDL, esp Large-HDL particle numbers (don't waste money on cholesterol numbers), review my answers on HealthTap, Study: Big Fat Lies, Science for Smart People, Taubes, Lustig

LDL, not Cholesterol: Cholesterol is a fat molecule manufactured by every animal cell, a building block of each cell membrane (enables membrane fluidity/movement without tearing), is fundamental to the survival of every animal cell. Lipoproteins (proteins which transport all fats in the water outside cells) is the correct issue for artery disease (e.g. Ldl ≤700 nmol/l, HDL ≥45 µmol/l). Cholesterol ↓$, but misleading.
