Similar: Both kids and adults are largely diagnosed based on an evaluation of the history and symptoms that are present. In addition, a thorough psychological evaluation can help establish the diagnosis. Since autistic symptoms have to occur in early childhood, the diagnosis is sometimes easier to make in kids versus adults.

Same way: The autism diagnostic observation scales are geared at different age levels, pre-verbal & verbal. Cognition ( intellect), processing of verbal & non/verbal information, language comprehension & expressive non-verbal & verbal social communication, reciprocal social interaction, & presence of stereotypies or narrow, restricted areas of interest are all tested.
