Several possiblities: Without a more precise description of location and pain it's impossible to say, but it could be vertebral dysf., muscle cramps, kidney disease, quadratus lumborum spasm, disc herniation, sacroiliac problem, etc. Etc. A proper history & physical exam, including an osteopathic hands-on exam might be able to determine the exact cause.

Need more info: Where exactly is your pain? Does it radiate into your legs? Do you have numbness. Tingling, or weakness of your legs? Does it hurt more with sitting, standing, lying down, etc? How did it occur- injury/lifting? Do you have pain with bm/urination? Fevers? Basically it's impossible to say with what you have given us. Go see your pcp and he/she will refer you for imaging or a to see a specialist.
