Not any longer....: Surgery to repair hammertoes in patients with neuromusclar diseases like gullian-barre fare no differently than patients who are without the disease. Arthrodesis (fusion) of the contracted toes will give you better long-term benefits vs. Contractures. Healing from surgery is based on arterial blood flow and nutrition.
