Possible infection: I am not sure what type of stone you have, but a staghorn stone in the kidney area (composed of several minerals/struvites) which can get infected. It occurs more in men (80%), so other 20% found in women. Having symptoms for 4 wks and now fever, you should see your doc for an eval and treatment. Don't waite too long. Good luck.

See your doctor: Kidney stones do not cause pain while they sit in the kidney. When the enter the ureter and start passing towards the bladder the can cause pain worse than childbirth. Most pass over 3-4 days, large ones may not. If you are having "ureteral colic" , pain due to these stones, with a fever this signifies a possible infection of urine trapped behind stone and is an emergency.
