A member asked:

My 8-month-old baby girl seems a bit cross-eyed, and some said it will be back to normal as she grows older, is that right?

Depends on the situa: What appears to be crossed eyes in some kids is just a broad nasal bridge which does grow out & loose its effect over time.A light that strikes the pupil at the same spot on both from a distance would show the eyes can line up normally.Yet any time eyes seem to drift apart or cross frequently, you should have your dr check it.Failure to do so could may impair the success of treatment if needed.

Pediatric EyeMD: It may be just a wide nasal bridge that gives appearance of crossed eyes. But since crossed eyes in an infant is very serious you must see a pediatric ophthalmologist. If the eyes are crossed-in they may need glasses or surgery. The sooner they straighten the higher chance of developing 3d vision. The crossed eye may become lazy or amblyopic that is the earlier treated the better the results.

Some?: I'm concerned by "some." By that do your mean qualified medical opinion or anecdotal advice from well meaning friends/family? Ask your daughter's Pediatrician for an evaluation next time you have a well-baby visit.
