I broke my c1 and c2 last month what is the danger of taking off my halo?

Don't do it!: You should not remove a halo without the advice of your treating physician. This device is important to provide stability to healing vertebrae. Fractures that high up on your spine can be quite devastating as damage to your spinal cord at this level affects basic functions such as breathing. Please follow your doctor's advice on this!

Death: Taking off your halo could result in movement of C1 and C2 causing damage to the spinal cord at that level resulting in death. Of course, that is the worst case. I would say follow your doctors advice and keep it on until they say it is safe to take off.
