Why does it seem doctors are against natural childbirth?

Depends on variables: When you've taken care of newborns for decades you want mom's to have a great experience and a happy outcome.You hope for the best but plan for the worst.Locally we saw one popular midwife involved in 5 baby deaths in a 1 year period.Early recognition and care would have saved them.We hate to see avoidable calamity in a risky setting.The risks are too great to treat this like planning a party.
