Thyroid test: There are tests for function -- to detect hyper or hypo thyroidism. Tests for inflammation-- thyroid antibodies. Tests for physical changes like goiter, nodules, or cysts-- ultrasound. Tests for areas of hyper activity like radioactive iodine uptake.
