Step down therapy: Advair one of three combination medications indicated for moderate to severe asthma not controllable with other asthma medication(s) is extremely effective therapy. Once some asthmatics symptoms are controlled for at least 3 months it may be possible to remove the second medication, salmeterol (serevent) from treatment. However anti-inflammatory, inhaled corticosteroids should be continued daily.
