No: 'chronic' means it has been going on for 60-90 days. This is, by definition, not an emergency. If the pain hasn't gone away and conventional approaches haven't found the cause, you might want to consult an osteopathic doctor, especially one who specializes in hands-on diagnosis and manipulative treatment. They can frequently find the cause and treat it when others can't.

Depends: It depends on the severity of the symptoms and whether ir may be associated woth any increased pain at night, loss of appetite. Unexplained weight loss, fever, chills or sweats or any neurologic issues. Since it is chronic it may be better ro get chrcked out by a specialist.

NO: You start by saying you have "chronic back pain, " if so then th emergency ro on is not the place for you. You should be thoroughly evaluated by your pcp. If necessary, the appropriate diagnostic studies will be ordered and the appropriate specialty referral made.
