Perhaps : No reason why not. Either the dentist can do it if properly trained in sedation, or an anesthesiologist can be bought in at additional expenxe.

IV Sedation: Iv sedation is possible at dental offices which are certified for by their state board for IV sedation. Other alternatives include nitrous oxide and halcion (triazolam). Call a local dentist to discuss what options they offer.

Yes but be cautious: A dentist can put you under IV sedation or other modalities of sedation and it's very safe. But please beware to make sure they are properly trained with the proper emergency medicines and equipment for doing proper sedation and maintain your safety.

Most Dentists or: Oral surgeons will do root canals under straight local anesthetic (la). Rarely is any other kind of sedation needed. I can tell you that after having three root canals the la was quite sufficient. I later used some Motrin when the block wore off. Hope that this helps.

Normally not: Some dentists perform their treatment, including root canals, as sedation dentistry- where their patient will take some medication about an hour before treatment and it totally relaxes the p[patient and helps them get more treatment done at one visit. They are aware of their surroundings yet pretty much out of it so their anxiety and fear levels are greatly diminished.
