What does it mean to transfuse single donor platelets?

One donor: This is a transfusion of platelets that are obtained from a single donor who is hooked to a machine that removes their platelets. The alternative is called random donor platelets and uses many bags of platelets that are separated out when a donor donates a unit of whole blood.
